When it rains, it pours. Here’s a few dreams from last night, one of which ended up being a lucid.
“Do Not Try This At Home”
— I was trying to fall back asleep after having taken a 6-8 hour nap, as I had just done in waking life (IWL). I looked outside the window and saw it was really sunny and beautiful outside, if not a bit cloudy. I briefly thought about how it was insane how early the sun rose and how it was sad that I couldn’t get in any photographs.
However, it did give me an idea for falling back asleep. That idea, of course, was to drive around a bit to lull me to sleep. Cut to me mid-driving down a dirt road. The scenery was lovely, but it suddenly dawned on me just how dangerous this idea was. I was clearly cutting in and out of consciousness and my vision was blackening.
I drove to the end of the road, which I found out was a cemetery. I didn’t realize there was a cemetery here, so I found this mildly interesting.
I pulled into a drive to the size in order to turn around, but after that I found I just couldn’t find the gas pedal on my car anymore. I panicked, half worried I was stuck and really annoyed with myself now for how stupid and dangerous an idea this was.
Eventually, though, I was able to continue driving.
“Featherduster”
— I was sitting at my computer at when I believed to be this morning. I think I might have been trying to remember my dreams, but not sure.
I got up and walked around a bit. Just outside the room were a couple stands. On them stood a number of books, arranged in display stands with their covers facing outward. At first I thought there were related to Root, possibly expansions, but on closer inspections they seemed to be… two sets of something else? One seemed more more like a set of children’s books and the other more of a serious study of animals. They both seemed had the same childish covers to them though.
I noticed that one book from the serious set had gotten mixed up into the children’s set, so I moved it to the other stand. I noticed that it had the same cover as one of the children’s books — a picture of a cute red fox wearing a crown of flowers. (As a side note, I tend to consider foxes in dreams to be a bad sign, so not a great fact about the dream to remember lol.)
I briefly thought about the books and realized they were mine. I found this a bit odd, since they were outside my room and I hoped mom wouldn’t take one away. Then I remembered that I am literally an adult with a place of my own to myself so, no shit, I own everything in here.
That confused me though, as I didn’t feel like I owned this stuff. Nor was it familiar to me. But I must own it? That doesn’t make sense.
That’s when I realized that this was a dream and became lucid.
I ended up, as usual, flying my way out of the house. I couldn’t see anything, but I could feel the silky wind as I cut through the air. It was wonderful to be in the air again.
I then woke up in the dirt, having been clearly writhing in it. I felt extremely embarrassed, wondering how I even got there and what I was doing.
It was dark out. Down the road I could see a buck sitting in the middle of the road, facing away(?) from me. I briefly wished I had my camera, with how close I was to the guy.
Thinking back again about how I got out here, I realized that I must acted out my dream IWL and made my way outside. I was just outside my home, after all.
But that didn’t make sense. I’ve never sleepwalked before and, to that point, that was my childhood home — not my current one.
I became lucid again.
I looked back to the buck, but he disappeared and in his place a bear and something I don’t remember were gunning it for me.
I ended up tussling with the bear for a while. I knew full well I couldn’t fight one IWL, but since this was a dream I had no doubt there wouldn’t be any chance of me becoming injured here. Still not the type of thing I wanted to do, though.
I moved back and started to fly away, but as I did an alien ship dropped down and some greyish-green little dudes came out. I did hear the name of their people, but no longer remember what that was.
I flew into space, reveling in the light show as stars whizzed past and I found myself drawn into a bright pinkish-yellow light.
I cut to being in the middle of some grey cavern on an alien world. This was the home planet of those aliens I saw before and I realized I was now one of them. I had a realization that they used something like dreaming or that light or something else to retain eternal life or something.
I don’t recall the details, though. To be fair, I was moreso annoyed that I was now trapped in some tunnels and couldn’t fly around anymore. I tried pressing my face into the wall, but it wouldn’t budge. I began to really wish that I could start to develop some walking-though-walls skills like I had flight.
I ended up just tearing off the ceiling of the cavern and flew out through the seams.
I briefly thought about how this lucid dream felt like it had gone on for a really long time.
“Leeches”
— In this dream, I started off as an observer tagging along inside a man who was a doctor. He and a woman who was also (a more experienced and better) doctor we talking with a somewhat older man in his 50s-60s. The old man had some incurable disease that they were trying to help him with.
The woman doctor wandered off somewhere, talking with someone else. The doctor I was tagging along inside glanced over to see her thoroughly distracted, before he turned back to the patient.
He started talking about a new cure they were developing and how it would save the patient from this incurable disease. I briefly wondered if he expected the woman to help in the explanation, and that’s why he glanced over.
Some black serum was injected into the patient’s veins.
Cut to the doctor man in a side room, reassembling some plush and adding a plush camera lens to make it look like an oversized, half deflated security camera.
Kinda.
Maybe.
Not really.
Nevertheless, he thought this was the most brilliant thing ever while I was mentally facepalming. I was now able to feel his emotions a bit better now. Self-assured and willing to break the rules to do what he thinks is right. Not trustworthy. Not at all.
Cut to some other doctor entering that side room and seeing the plush security camera on the ceiling. The look on his face told me he found it just as ridiculous and unconvincing as I had. I was now no longer attached to the corrupt doctor and was a free-floating third-party observer.
This doctor headed back into the room with the patient. The other two doctors were there, as well as their boss, who had just arrived.
The boss had been tearing the corrupt doctor a new one. That serum had proven to be not only unreliable, but entirely harmful to test subjects and was considered absolutely not safe whatsoever.
The corrupt doctor stood behind it 100%, though, and fully believed that it would perform better in human tests.
Despite the damage that was done, it was done, in the end. The woman doctor had begun the tests for the drug on the patient. Even if it wasn’t meant to be administered, what’s done is done and they may as well learn what they can from it.
Regardless, the boss was absolutely fuming and tearing down the corrupt doctor for endangering the life of this poor patient, even accusing him of sentencing the patient to death.
Meanwhile, despite being in the same room the patient didn’t hear any of this. Somehow. Dream logic lol.
Hard cut to some mascot character explaining this stuff to a group of kids. They were trapped in this hospital danganronpa-style. Though, their goal wasn’t to kill each other, but to learn of the events that transpired here and what brought the place to ruin.
There was some bit about them riding an elevator up together and the mascot character and it’s henchmen being able to squeeze into hidden passages only they could reach.
The mascot was feeling hopeful. At first these kids didn’t care at all what happened to this ruined facility and how it wrought the coming disaster, but after hearing this tale, they started to care a bit more.
